How can I decide whether or not to go abroad?
Alpha encourages students to go abroad with many programs including academic, volunteer, ecotourism, gap year and language studies programs. Studying abroad introduces students to a new and exciting way of life, and allows them to recognize and appreciate other cultures and perspectives. Studying abroad is also a wonderful opportunity to challenge and learn about yourself. Immersion in a foreign language allows for a student to gain true language fluency. Going abroad also allows students to forge connections and relationships that will last a lifetime. Our staff will work with you to assist you in the decision making process.

How well are students assimilated in the local/host culture? What are some of your immersion activities?
We provide students with access to many opportunities to immerse themselves in the host culture. Living with a host family will allow you to experience all aspects of life. The program you choose will have opportunities to tour and travel within your host country.

Where can I study abroad with Alpha?
Alpha can send you to many different destinations depending on your program choice, including: Africa, Argentina, Australia, Austria, China, Costa Rica, Eastern Europe, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Russia, Spain, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.

Do you offer any graduate programs?
Yes. We can assist you in finding opportunities to study for a Master’s or Ph.D. program in a foreign country.

Is there a minimum age requirement to study abroad with Alpha?
Yes. Students must be 19 to go abroad.

What are the benefits of registering with Alpha Study Abroad?

There are many program options including academic, ecotourism, volunteer, gap year and language studies programs. Our dedicated staff assists clients with their choices and navigates them through the application process.

Can Alpha help us create our own custom program?
Yes. Our staff can create journeys to several countries with you participating in several types of activities, such as learning French in Paris and going on to a cooking school in Italy. The choices are endless!

Do I need a passport to study abroad?
Yes. Alpha requires that all students have a current passport to study abroad. If you do not have a passport, or if your passport will expire soon, apply to obtain or renew your passport as soon as possible, as this process can take several weeks. Other documents may be required depending on your country of citizenship, duration of your trip and other factors. You should research these and obtain all required documents as soon as possible.

Do I need a visa to study abroad?
Yes. Your advisor/contact can assist you with your VISA requirements and application.

What are the application deadlines?
Fill out an online application with your specific information (preferred program, destination, departure date, duration of trip) and one of our representatives will contact you. According to your information and goals, we will provide options for you to choose from. Once you’ve made your choice, our staff will assist you with application processes, VISA applications, travel and health insurance information, and details about your program and destination.

Does Alpha programs include health insurance?
Yes – we can provide health insurance but travellers’ insurance for things such as trip cancellation, clients are asked to purchase with travel agency.
